General contractors for cold climates

Figure 9 Construction is a licensed general contractor with roots in multifamily construction and rehabilitation in Alaska. Today, we build across Alaska and the Mountain West, bringing seventeen years of cold-climate experience to every project.

Seventeen years building in Alaska

Anchorage gives you about five months to get a building weathertight. Miss that window and you’re heating a tent through breakup.

That reality shapes how we plan the work: how foundations get protected from frost, how the envelope sequence gets front-loaded, when material orders need to go in to make the barge or truck, and where float actually belongs in the schedule. It’s how we’ve always worked because, in Southcentral Alaska, there isn’t another way.

Built on Both Sides of the Project

Figure 9 brings together nearly two decades of construction experience and years of multifamily ownership and operations in Alaska. That background gives us a practical understanding of what matters during construction and what still matters years after the job is done.

We build with both in mind: the schedule and budget in front of us, and the building someone has to own, operate, and maintain when we leave.

Capabilities

From preconstruction through closeout, we bring hands-on building experience and disciplined project management to every phase of the work.

Ground-Up Construction

We manage projects from sitework and foundations through structure, envelope, interiors, and certificate of occupancy, coordinating the trades, materials, inspections, and details that keep construction moving.

Multifamily Rehabilitation & Repositioning

Our experience includes major rehabilitation of occupied and vacant multifamily properties, with work spanning foundations, roofing and exterior envelopes, windows and doors, mechanical and electrical systems, interiors, and site improvements.

Cold-Climate Construction

Weather and a short season are part of how we plan. Frost protection, envelope sequencing, winter conditions, long-lead procurement, and the race to weathertight all factor into the schedule before work begins.

Preconstruction & Project Planning

We work through scope, constructability, schedule, procurement, permitting, site logistics, and trade coordination before construction reaches the field. The earlier the hard decisions get made, the fewer expensive ones are left for later.

Commercial Improvements & Renovations

From commercial renovations and tenant improvements to change-of-use projects, we coordinate building systems, trades, permitting, inspections, and finish work through turnover.

Construction Management

We manage the moving parts behind the build: subcontractors, procurement, schedule, inspections, documentation, owner and design-team coordination, and day-to-day field execution.
